Star Wars canon

Star wars is a very large film series which started in 1977, since a new hope fans have come together to create the "Expanded Universe" or Star Wars EU for short. This gives us history on our characters from the films, aswell as history throught the entire setting for star wars including thousands of years before. After Disney purchased LucasFilm they decided to make the EU non-canon and decided to rename it legends. What's your view on this? To me it seems as if Disney wants to create their own star wars which doesn't have to be affected by the fans.

On another note, Disney has allowed some comic books to become canon, such as the Darth Vader comics, which tell a very intresting story on Vader and turn him from a character you feared to a character you felt sympathy for.
