Pretty sure that error is a missing file or broken config, use a LiveCD to fix it.

Hey PP

Use your Live CD or some form of media to completely wipe your Hard Disk to get rid of GRUB and then do a factory restore. Is there anyway during factory restore that lets you format your Disk?

I know I had a similar problem with my old PC about 3 years ago now. I dualed my OEM Windows XP and Ubuntu and done a factory restore after wiping the Hard Disk but got a recovery error (Glue Parts Error 5 - Packard Bell Error) and reformatting the Hard Disk fixed that problem.

Hope this helps :relaxed:

If you use Google you should be able to find extensive help on fixing this, since this is a very common error with GRUB.
