Have Android Nougat 7.0? Get Google Assistant In Just 2 Zips

Google Assistant was touted to run only on Google Pixel phones, but it didn't take long for the rooting and mod community to get the software to run on a bunch of Android Nougat devices. The supported devices include Google Nexus 4+, Moto G 2013 and 2015 and OnePlus One.

Brianelv on XDA has posted 2 methods, one involving a slight edit to your build.prop, and another involving flashing a couple of Zip files via your Custom Recovery software. This assumes that you have such software installed on your phone, which is likely if you've gotten Android 7 running on these earlier devices:

By doing this, you are effectively changing your phone to look like it is a Google Pixel, which may affect things like the play store, according to the post, though this won't allegedly affect Nexus devices. Be very careful though as this is an unofficial method and can cause issues to your device at any time. Don't say you weren't warned!

If you have Android 6 Marshmellow, you can get Google Assistant as a feature via the "Android Nify" Xposed Module.
