Remove the eye-straining background without addons or plugins.
YouTube is working on a new design, and a new speedier framework for it’s website, and it is now accessible to try out by just visiting the following website (although YouTube claims “We’re opening up a preview of the new design to a small group of people from all around the world”):
Once opted in, you’ll see an option once you’ve clicked your profile in the top right:
To revert back, simply choose “Restore Classic YouTube” from the same dropdown.
Previously, you were able to access this by going to the developer console for chrome and pasting the text “document.cookie=”VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=fPQ4jCL6EiE” although it’s not known if this still works.
If you’re still unable to see this mode or would prefer an alternative, you can download the addon “Stylish” for your browser and use a custom skin such as Black YouTube by Panos, which will completely theme out your experience and save your eyes!
