In order to keep the DuncsWeb Chat Room a great place to chat in, we have to lay down and enforce a set of rules. If they are not followed, you will be warned, kicked, or banned. If you do not agree with any of the rules, please DO NOT enter the chat room.
1. iPocalypse Terms of Service. Upon connecting to #duncsweb, you are inadvertently agreeing to the iPocalypse Terms of Service. If you do not agree with the Terms of Service, disconnect and do not reconnect!
2. Do not PM/DCC/Query/Notice/CTCP anyone without asking for permission in the channel first! This is a GeekShed Network Rule! (Section 2: Harassment, subsection a: Including Sending Private Messages, Notices, and or CTCP requests to a User with out their permission.) Failure to do such, especially to channel operators, may result in network disciplinary action taken against you.
3. Stay out of matters that don’t concern you. If channel staff is warning another user and you (the non-channel staff) step in, you will be punished accordingly.
4. Leave the Moderating to the Channel Operators. Voiced users and under lack the ability to discipline users in the channel. Please allow the channel operators to warn other members of the channel when necessary. If you see someone breaking the rules and no op sees it type “duncop” once.
5. English only. We understand that there are users that speak a variety of languages. However, the channel owner and the operators generally only speak English and expect you to do the same.
6. No Trolling. A troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional or disciplinary response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. Trolls will be dealt with accordingly.
7. No Foul Language. Otherwise known as “swearing”, “cursing”, or “cussing”. Channel mode +G is enabled to filter out such language and replace it with <censored>. While the word may appear fine after you press enter, other people in the channel will see <censored>. Censoring yourself is also viewed as actually saying the word, so please do not censor yourself.
8. No Flooding. Flooding is the use of extraneous characters or copy/pasting a line over and over again. Example of extraneous characters: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
9. No Insulting. Petty insults and name-calling will not be tolerated. Punishments will be issued as necessary.

15. No Needless Clones. While GeekShed does allow numerous connections from one host to the network, our channel doesn’t allow numerous unneeded clones. If you have two connections in our channel, please make sure the nicks are grouped as we will not be bestow statuses to clones. Also, if the clones are on separate computers, please label the clones appropriately with [laptop] or such. Three or more clones will be considered excessive and will be removed at the discretion of the channel operating staff.
16. No Away Messages. While you believe it may be important for others to know if you are away, away messages/scripts are not the route to go. GeekShed has an /away function for you to use as your discretion. Please do not use away messages in the channel.
17. No Scripts and Unauthorized Bots. Please do not use scripts and bring unauthorized bots into #duncsweb. If you are caught using scripts, you will be asked to disable them. Any nick with the name “bot” will be treated as a bot and will be removed.
18. Do not ask for Staff Positions or Voice. Asking for a staff position or voice will guarantee that you will never receive it.
19. No Ban Evasion. This is the avoidance of channel bans by means of a proxy, BNC, power cycling your modem, or the use of other anonymization schemes. Ban evading is a GeekShed Network Violation and can/will lead to a G:line/Z:line (ban) from the entire network!
20. No inappropriate or excessively long nicks or excessive nick changes. Channel operators reserve the right to ask you to change your nick if they feel it is inappropriate or exceeds the character count of 18. If you refuse or blatantly ignore such requests, you will be removed from the channel.
21. Don’t Repeat Yourself. If you have asked a question in the channel and no one knows the answer, it’s very likely that no one has an answer for you. Repeating yourself will not make anyone answer you but it will be liable to get you removed from the channel.
22. Leave the Bots Alone. The bots available in #duncsweb are tools, not toys. Please do not flood bot commands in this channel. Flooding of the bot commands ruins the overall quality of the chat and will be liable to get you silenced/kicked/banned.
23. Amsgs are forbidden. Amsgs are used to display a single message to multiple channels a person is occupying on their IRC connection. They are generally performed through the command /amsg. If you are caught using them, you will be removed from the channel.
24. Impersonations are forbidden. This involves claiming to be someone you are not, especially celebrities who are unlikely to come onto IRC. If you are impersonating, you will be removed, no questions asked.

26. All matters pertaining to Hooch must be taken to #Hooch. #dunscweb will not be a central area for those to inquire about Hooch. If you inquire about Hooch in #duncsweb, you will be muted. No questions asked.
27. Topics containing religious or political conversing are not allowed. This includes all religions and any form of political talk. If you wish to talk about religion, join #religion. If you wish to discuss politics, join #politics.
28. #Duncsweb is not a test channel! If you wish to test something, create your own channel or do it in a channel that allows it. #Duncsweb =/= #test.
29. Channel Staff have the last word pertaining to all matters. If you argue or disrespect channel staff in anyway, you may find your voice removed, silenced, kicked and/or banned from the channel. Disputing kicks and/or bans from any party will also be liable for being kicked and/or banned from the channel.
These rules are liable to be modified as new situations present themselves.
