  • I use

    - Camtasia Studio 6 For Screen Recording & Editing
    - IcoFX For Making Icons
    - Fraps Game Recording
    - Gimp Photo Editing
    - TweetDeck Posting To Multiple Sites At Once
    - XAMPP For Use Of PHP Offline
    - Notepad++ For Coding
    - Dev-C++ Compitler For C++

I used to use LimeWire but my virus scanner went crazy whenever I opened it, so...

Internet Browser's/Internet Related Programs: Utorrent, Adobe Reader, BitTorrent, Cabos, Digsby (Not even close to the end but I'm bored so I'm going to finish another day :D)

Some of the software i use is for browsing the Internet would have to be Mozilla Firefox. I use Xchat for Irc. I use Windows Live messenger to chat with my Buddies as such. windows live mail and Mozilla Thunderbird are my email clients and I use tweetdeck for twitter and there's a bunch of other software I use.

    AV: AVAST FTW
    VIDEO: sony vegas!
    AV: avast and spybot SD

what's better- orbit downloader or download accelerator plus?
  • Internet: Opera. Fast, efficient, has everything built in you could possibly need. I mean seriously, built in ad blocking (you can block ads yourself, or download an adblock list, which is just a simple ini file), built in Chat/IRC client, built in Mail client, and not to mention Opera Unite. And the RAM usage generally stays really low compared to any other browser I've used.

IM: Windows Live Messenger. Has nice features, gets the job done. Downside is the file size. I don't think a simple messenger client should be over 60 MB, but hey, everyone uses it, and I like the features.

Voice chat: Xfire. It seems the quality surpasses that of Skype, at least with my experience. I don't really know whether Skype's voice quality is adjustable, but I know Xfire's is, and it sounds really nice. Plus, it's made specifically for gaming, and I do a lot of that. But for normal use, Skype is alright, though I don't use it too often.

IRC: mIRC, just because I prefer it. I do like Xchat also, though. And sometimes I use Opera's built in IRC client, which I also like a lot.

Email: Even though Opera has an email client built in, I use Windows Live Mail anyway, just because it's made for Live accounts such as my email address. On a side note, I find that it starts up at about double the speed on Vista/7 than it does XP.

Torrent client: uTorrent, very lightweight, works well.

Music: Winamp. Very nice equalizer presets compared to WMP =P

And I don't use any ant-virus... Even when I did, I never got any, so I said screw it and got rid of it. It was AVG, and it slowed everything down, especially on a single core CPU. It scans every icon of every shortcut and EXE, not to mention it re-scans opening programs, so it slows everything waaay down. Disabling the resident shield never helped speed anything back up, because it kept scanning, but it just wouldn't give warnings. (I had a program it thought was a virus, but obviously wasn't.) Nowadays, I just run ComboFix every so often. Keeps my system clean and running fast.

Audio editing: Audacity, it's free and does what I need it to.

Text editing 'n stuff: Pretty much just notepad. I even used it to make my website.

Video editing: Sony Vegas, Camtasia Studio, or Movie Maker. All depends on the situation.

Screen Recording: Camstudio. Works well with the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.

Coding: Code::Blocks. I use it because it was suggested to me, and it works, so...

System cleaning: Ccleaner. Free, lightweight, and does it's job. I also use TuneUp, but not nearly as much, just because I like to have something just instantly start up, clean what I need to, and turn it right back off. (this goes for registry cleaning, temporary files, etc.)

That's the normal stuff that I use the most, not including game modding stuff I use.
  • WWW: Google Chrome > Simple, easy to use, generally awesome.

e-mail: windows live mail > not sure why, considering going back to thunderbird.

anti virus: avg internet security > can't be bothered to get something better

media player(s): windows media, iTunes, SPOTIFY! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

audio editing: audacity > everything I need

torrent client: I don't really like torrents. kinda shady.

media sharing: used to use limewire, got bored.

media recording: iTunes/WMPlayer > no point in getting anything better, don't do that much.

Desktop Publishing & Design: Serif Desktop Publishing Suite > cheap, impressive, easy to use. Want to get Illustrator though.

IM: Messenger and Skype > All my friends are on messenger, all my relatives are on skype.

DAW: FL Studio 9 > Just what I've got used to, and it's tons of fun!! :-)

Image Editing/Organisation: Picasa, GIMP > both free and super easy to use.

I also use GDI++ to smooth the edges of screen fonts, a la iMac.

'Course, I use tons more, but these are the main 1s.

    internet: Firefox -->i like it

e-mail: windows live mail--> simple and easy to use

anti virus/firewall e.c.t: avg internet security--> simple UI and minimum ram consumption

media player(s): windows media and gom player-->plays most common formats inc. FLV's

audio editing: audacity--> simple, easy to use, dose it all

torrent client: bit comet--> i prefer it to all others i've tried

media sharing: orb-->it was free and Dunc's review helped.

I only use the computer to browse lol. But the only software I use is Sandboxie when going online because everything I do is wiped by sandboxie so if I get a virus sandboxie will just wipe it off my computer clean everytime I terminate it's programs. Awesome.

Internet: Firefox and Chrome when i feel like.

Music: Windows Media Player XD and Grooveshark - Must better than Spotify and you dont have to download anything.

    Video Player: "

Screencasting: Hypercam2 - i found out myself with the right codecs is much better than Camstudio and Camstudio - now retired

    Image Editing: GIMP

    Chat: MSN obv =)

    Thanks for all the Videos.
  • Internet browsing: FireFox - Because it has all the customisation I need. But I sometimes switch to Google Chrome when FireFox doesn't work for me.

Music: Spotify/iTunes - Because spotify is free, and iTunes works a lot better with volume settings.

Video Player: VLC Media player - It plays all the formats that I can think off, and allows me to view a video in different aspect ratios to see if it looks alright.

Screencasting: BBflashback pro - Because it's a lot better, and makes a lot smoother screen recordings, and it also allows me to record in 720p.

Gaming: Steam - They have really good deals on games, surf the web while gaming, chat to people while gaming. (Near) instant Download speed.

Online Chat: X-chat - Talk to people in the Duncsweb chat. It's also free so there is no need to panic.

Image creation/editing: Photoshop/Fireworks CS3 use Fireworks more than Photoshop, but I find myself needing to use Photoshop when there are things that Fireworks doesn't have. For the most part I use Fireworks as it's a lot easier to get into than Photoshop.

Video editing: Pinnacle Studio 12 - Learnt how to use an ealier version of this software in High school and liked it so much I had to have it for my video editing. I mainly use it to put my Gaming videos together or my edit my webcam videos. I like it because it's the closest alternative to iMove 09 that I've ever used.

Twitter: Tweet Deck - Clean interface, and it's easy to use. And I can post to Facebook.

    E-mail Client: Mozilla ThunderBird - Desktop client but I don't use it for G-mail since it's a bit .... slow recieving E-mail.

I don't use IM software anymore since I never find myseld using it.

  • mobilephone2003
Oops! I guess you can tell I skipped Vista :P
  • I have Vista. Really wish I didn't. But I'm apprehensive to upgrade to Windows 7 yet because, although it's meant to be brilliant, it is in its early stages, and I with my system already groaning under the weight of my mucking around, a bug is the last thing I need.

How about a dual boot? You could always try them both
