While on TeamSpeak, me and Dan thought that there must be a way to have a better quality conversation, but still retain an essential feature with TeamSpeak…the Push-To-Talk. Always with multiple people, a phone rings or a relative shouts and this all gets captured through skype as the call is constantly running, and the user forgets to turn off his microphone.
Fortunately, a user with the same aim has come up with a brilliant tool called Skype PTT:
Although the client is in beta 1, it works brilliantly on Windows 7 x64 and the latest version of Skype 4.1.0.179.
As you can see from the screenshot, I have set F2 to speak, and I can simply minimize the client and continue work knowing I can speak to the recipient whenever needed. This eliminates the need to pay for a TeamSpeak server, and you can enjoy the free conversations from your mobile device as well.
Check it out: Skype PTT

I haven't been able to get this program to work consistently in Windows 7 x64, also using Skype 4.1.0.179. Did you have to do anything special to get it to work (compatibility modes)? Thanks.
I simply ran the program with skype open and it worked.
Hi Duncan,
My company is developing the Skype for Power Gamers product line. Our S4PG.Client includes Push-to-talk PTT, Mute Toggle Key, In-game Skype control, and a few other features.
You can visit http://s4pg.us to give it a try.
