My FarmVille Tips To Level Up Quickly

As many of you know, I made the following video talking about FarmVille:


Since I made this video, I have gotten quite a high level (Currently level 29 with 457,961 coins), and got quite a few people addicted to the game (Sorry!). I thought I would make a post here with some advice on how I levelled up quickly.


Firstly, lets take a look at those ribbons (I’ll tell you what I did to complete):


  • Local Celebrity – Add as many neighbours as possible – Simply ask your friends to add you as neighbours. If they don’t want to play, come into the chat, and some of the community might add you, or you can add me as a friend
  • Good Samaritan – Help as many neighbours as possible – There is no real way to complete this quickly, and you need enough neighbours to help, so be prepared to be doing this every day (you gain 20 coins and 5XP for helping the first 10 times).
  • High Roller – Earn as many coins as possible – This ribbon is earned as you harvest and complete other ribbons
  • A Pretty Penny – Spend as many coins as possible – This ribbon will also be earned as you seed and buy things for other ribbons
  • Cream of the Crop – Harvest as many crops as possible – If you want to complete this quickly, plant as many strawberries/raspberries as possible, otherwise this will be earned as you play.
  • Knock on Wood – Harvest as many trees as possible – Here you can simply buy as many cherry trees as possible, they cost 225 and will take 2 days. Also ask for trees as gifts.
  • Zoologist – Collect from as many animals as possible – Simply buy cows or ask for animal gifts to complete this one, they cost 300. Buy a dairy farm for 10,000 to house 20 cows and save clicking
  • Architect – Own as many buildings as possible – Simply buy as many rest tents as possible and sell them, they cost 1,000. NOTE: You will need to keep them on your farm to get the better ribbons!
  • Pack Rat – Own as many decorations as possible – Simply buy as many coloured hay bales as possible and sell them, they cost 125. NOTE: It will be a lot of clicking to sell them when you have the blue ribbon, and keep them on your farm to get that far!
  • Animal Shelter – Adopt as many animals as possible – This ribbon will depend on how many neighbours are actively playing, so make sure they are and keep an eye out on your FaceBook feed.
  • Green Thumb – Harvest as many types of crops as possible – Simply use 1 square for a type of crop (use many squares for types to complete quicker), and use the rest of the squares for XP/Coin generation. Note down the time it will take to complete them so they don’t wilt.
  • Tree Hugger – Harvest as many types of tree as possible – Ask your neighbours to help you with this one, get the higher levels to gift you trees, and buy as many types as you can at your level.
  • Noah’s Ark – Own as many types of animal as possible – Again, ask your neighbours for this one, or buy them.
  • Not Spoiled, Gifted! – Have as many unique gifts in your gift box as possible – Message your neighbours or make an update saying you require something so people will know what to send, ask them what they can gift up to, and make sure you don’t use the items unless you have 2 of them.
  • Crop Whisperer – Fertilize as many neighbour crops as possible – This one, newly introduced, gives you fertilizer at random when you help neighbours farms, just do this along side helping them.
  • Flower Power – Harvest as many flowers as possible – Also newly introduced, if you get bored of planting crops, go for flowers, or do half and half to help you complete both quicker.


It will take time to level up, and you will need to harvest crops as well as aim for the ribbons above. Here is a look at my farm for some more tips:

As you can see, I am using all available space on the farm to harvest things, leaving a small amount of space for animals and trees. This helps with coin generation when you go for things like rice, grapes and sunflowers. Check This Strategy Guide for a list of the crops that will help you get the most out of your level, and plant as many as you can afford.

Some more random tips:

  • Trap your guy in the middle so he doesn’t walk around, he will harvest from where he is standing (this will help prevent RSI from clicking around so much, and stop him walking to you when you accidentally click)
  • Use your coins to buy things that give you XP, and then sell them. It doesn’t matter if you run out of money if you have planted a lot of coin generating crops
  • Sell anything unnecessary. A lot of people like to make their farms look pretty, and although it does look nice, its not useful when levelling up. Things like buildings and decorations that sit there and don’t do anything just waste space and therefore waste money.
  • Expand your farm ASAP. Although this will cost you a heavy 25,000 coins each time, expanding your farm will give you a bigger return in the long run. Be prepared to click lots and try and earn enough to buy a tractor.
  • Complete surveys for FarmVille Cash. – Want to buy something with FarmVille cash? You get one of these every time you level up, but if you hunger for some more, simply click the “add farm coins & cash” link and scroll down and complete the highest earning free surveys. One of them was to install Digsby, so feel free to try out that software while you are there.
